Great day on the scale! I feel like my work is paying off.

No workout yesterday; I had tummy troubles and decided it would be better to take it easy. I'll report back tonight's workout when it's done.

Fitness Journal

We had a great time at the Panthers game, even though they lost. I had a few beers and a hotdog which wasn't too bad of a choice.

We went out for pizza tonight. I held at one piece with a nice salad and a couple of Peroni's. I'm on track and on plan. =)

Hrm... my Sunday post seems to have disappeared.

Anyways...

11/15/09: FIRM SCS (40-min cardio)

HRM stats: burned 326 calories, 32 minutes were in the target zone, avg HR 132, high 162.

Disappointment

I was so surprised and disappointed this morning when I was up 0.6. I know there are going to be fluctuations, and it's easy to say that. But it's hard to shake this defeated stinkin' thinkin'. I have been eating right and working out.

I'm also coming off TOM and probably shouldn't have drank so much coffee this morning.

I've re-read Why The Scale Lies and my head knows this is not a setback, but it still hurts my li'l heart!

I'm done with the bad vibes, moving on, hoping the hard work will show next week. It's just that I already have so far to go, and this feels like another delay in getting there.

Fitness Journal

I got a heart rate monitor today to track my workouts. I am not sure that I'm using it right, but I'm trying to learn.

Today, I did a strictly sculpting workout:

FIRM SS (49-min sculpting)

I never feel like I get as good a workout without the cardio component, but I know the strength training is good for me, even though it doesn't burn as many calories. It is great for my bones and fighting osteoporosis. I am going to feel it in my muscles tomorrow, for sure!

Fitness Journal

I'm going to start blogging my workouts each day. I actually do them in the evenings during the week. On the weekends, whenever.

My dad died unexpectedly five years ago today. I miss him so much. There were so many things I wish I had told him that I can't now. Don't take for granted that your loved ones know how you feel. Tell them now, because you may not have another chance.

MD Update

Okay, yesterday was end of week three and I am on a roll. I feel fantastic. Amazingly, my body seems to like healthy food, and doesn't miss junk at all. Three weeks without a soda, diet or otherwise...this from a former Coke Zero addict!

Simply Amazing

I've been at this workout thing for a couple of weeks. The first one I did depressed me, because I remembered how fit I was, and starting out I couldn't get through it without rest breaks. It is simply amazing how fast your body responds to consistent exercise, though. I've been rotating through DVDs, but I have a one favorite that I do once a week. It's still hard, but each time I do it, I can do it a little better. Tonight I did it without any breaks. Maybe next week, I'll do one step segment with the 8" step instead of the 6".

Dave is so encouraging and motivating. I love that man! (I've probably mentioned that before...LOL)

Health Care Reform Bill

I saw just before I went to bed last night that the HR passed the health care reform bill. While I think there are many problems with our current system, I do not believe in this particular bill. There is too much control being given to the federal government. All I see is more taxes, worse coverage and care and more and more debt for my grandkids to shoulder.

I haven't looked at any news sites talking about it today. Quite frankly, I am a little scared of what is now to come. I think passage of this is just the tip of the iceberg. I didn't sleep well last night because of it.

Sunday, Sunday

I enjoyed my rest day on Friday. Yesterday I did an awesome 55 minute cardio + sculpt. Today I thought about a rest day... it *is* Sunday, after all... but I decided a 30-minute cardio was in order. We are having fondue for the game tonight, so I need all the help I can get!

I'm so tired after a workout, but I have found that my energy level the rest of the time is up from the increased (that's increased from non-existent) exercise. It's all very good.

Four... and REST!

I did my fourth-day-in-a-row workout last night. It was a pretty tough 40-minute cardio. Dave has been messing with me while I'm trying to work out. It's so funny.

My body is tired and sore, but in a good way. Today is a much-anticipated day of rest. Back at it tomorrow, though!

Three and counting!

I worked out again last night. I can actually feel my body getting stronger. It's so hard, but so worth it. I am going for it again tonight, then taking Friday off for my body to rest and replenish. My goal is to get to five days a week, at least 40 minutes a day. I'm thinking Friday and Sunday are good rest days. Every other Friday we pick up Shea, so it's hard to have time to fit it in. And Saturdays are usually kind of lazy except for housework, so I can work in a longer workout. Sunday is the perfect rest day!

Working out

I am proud of myself for working out two days in a row. I haven't done that in years, and they were tough workouts. I couldn't do every single move, but I took little breaks and jumped back in and finished both times. I'm going to three tonight.

My body is protesting, but it will love me for it eventually, and I have to say it feels good.

I have to give props to Dave. He is so cool about this. We had discussed that this is somewhat of a personal thing not to be broadcasted (even though I'm blogging, but I think I'm the only one who reads this...LOL). He agreed, but when he came to kiss me goodnight after I went to bed, he asked, "When can I start bragging on you?" What a guy! I love him bunches!

MD Update

I didn't let my funk get me down and stuck to the plan, even through another outing at Renaissance Festival. I have tangible evidence that it worked. My body is so tired right now after an hour of circuit training. I am disappointed that I was so wimpy with it, but I have to start somewhere. I give myself credit for not just turning off the DVD and quitting. I took my little breathers and jumped back in when I could. Before I know it, I'll be doing the whole thing with weights and even increasing the weights.

Dave left me a note on the fridge that he's proud of me. That means the world to me. =)
